The following house rules modify the Leadership combat sphere rules.
Cohort Package
Specialized NPCs called cohorts are willing to follow you on adventures. A cohort always acts on your initiative. You gain the following ability:
Recruit
You may recruit adventurers, mercenaries, and sellswords to actively assist you. Recruiting is done in the same manner as recruiting a cohort in the Leadership feat, except that you do not need to pay the recruitment cost and that you can gain a 1st-level cohort at 1st and 2nd level. However, the cohort cannot increase in level until you reach at least 4th level. Cohorts granted by the Leadership sphere otherwise function like the cohort from the Leadership feat. Additionally, the Leadership sphere allows you to recruit more than one of these sphere cohorts as long as their total Hit Dice do not exceed your ranks in Diplomacy.
Follower Package
You gain a group of followers. Recruiting is done in the same manner as recruiting a follower in the Leadership feat, except that you do not need to pay the recruitment cost and you use your number of ranks in Diplomacy as your Leadership Score. Followers granted by the Leadership sphere otherwise function like followers from the Leadership feat.
If you occupy a nation leadership position, possessing this package grants a +2 bonus per follower talent you possess to your nation leadership checks.
Cohort Talents
A cohort provided by the Leadership feat can also benefit from cohort talents.
Follower Talents
Followers provided by the Leadership feat can also benefit from follower talents.
Legendary Talents
Form Personal Retinue
Prerequisites: Leadership sphere, (follower) package, expert Diplomacy.
Once per Decision phase of the nation turn, you may form army units as per the Create Unit action, but the troops must be recruited from your followers. The combined total UCR of all units created with this action cannot exceed an amount based on your proficiency in Diplomacy: up to 7 for expert, up to 15 for master, and up to 30 for legendary. Forming these units does not require a Soldier check, and are immediately available for active duty in the same Decision phase. Mark these units as "Retinue", and reduce their Wealth consumption to 1/4 of their normal value (this does not stack with the Wealth reduction from recruiting from followers). These units gain a +1 advantage on morale checks when part of an army where you are acting as its commander. Each time you use this talent, you can reform your units or disperse them. The units come equipped with basic melee weapons; other resources may be purchased normally.
