This spell makes the duration of certain other spells permanent. You first cast the desired spell and then follow it with the permanency spell. The subject spell must either have a target of personal, one or more creatures or objects, or target an area, or have an effect. The subject spell cannot have a duration of instantaneous.

Depending on the spell, you must be of a minimum caster level and must expend a specific amount of aetherite dust as a material component. The minimum caster level is equal to 9 + the subject spell's level. The base cost is 2,500 grains of aetherite dust + another 2,500 grains per level of the subject spell. This is in addition to any material costs already incurred by the subject spell.

The minimum caster level and the amount of aetherite dust is increased by the subject spell's original duration calculation. See the table below.

Table: Subject Spell Duration Modifiers

Original Duration Min. CL Increase Aetherite Dust Multiplier
rounds +4 x20
hours +3 x10
days +2 x5
weeks +1 x2
longer +0 x1

GM's Note: In this campaign setting, there are no spells with a minute or 10 minutes based durations. Any spell that list durations as minute/level or a number of minutes are converted to round/level or the equivalent number of rounds respectively. Any spell that list durations as 10 minutes/level are converted to hour/level.

If the subject spell can be cast on more than one creature or object, multiply the aetherite dust amount for permanency by the total number of affected targets.

Spells made permanent are still subject to dispel magic and other forms of magic cancellation as normal.
