House Rules: Defense Bonus

The Defense bonus represents a creature's ability to defend itself due to its natural instinct and actual training. As a creature grows in experience, the more natural defensive maneuvers become to them. As a creature finds itself in more and more dangerous situations, the more their natural instinct to danger becomes more acute and refined, almost becoming a sixth sense.

Your defense bonus is equal to half of your base attack bonus (minimum +0). The defense bonus applies to both your touch AC and your flat-footed AC. Any time you are denied your Dexterity bonus to AC, you are also denied your defense bonus. Your defense bonus is not applied to your CMD. Wearing armor constricts your movement, so your defense is less effective. Check penalties from armor, shields, and encumbrance are applied to your defense bonus, reducing it (minimum +0).
