It is generally believed that the Greenheart came into being with the creation of Celesia. However, there are some theories that the Greenheart we know is either an aspect or a tendril of a more primordial deity of nature and elements that reaches out across every world in the night's sky. Regardless, the Greenheart we know is primarily concerned with the growth and balance of nature over all of Celesia.

The Greenheart oversees the balanced growth of natural life. This includes all creatures, plantlife, and fungi, and how they all tie into each other. While the Greenheart does provide aid to each, they are more concerned with the cycle of the whole ecosystem than its individual components. They ensure that nature as a whole continues to grow and thrive and evolve.

The same can be said of the elemental energies. While each type has their own primordial patron, the Greenheart supercedes them, and is more about how each type of energy flows into one another, transforming, and shaping the environment of the world.

The Greenheart is often portrayed as an aloof motherly figure. They display immense patience and hold a very long-term view. That said, the Greenheart readily answers calls to relieve pain and suffering, and never seeks to inflict such misery on their children of the world.

A Priest's Role

Priests of the Greenheart are wardens of nature. For the most part, they oversee the health of vast tracts of land and the creatures that live there. While they do not interfere with the natural life cycle of predator or prey, they will tend to the injuries of those that survive such encounters or from accidents.

Within developed settlements, these priests work to advise others in how to build and live in sustainable ways with the environment around them. The exploitation of resources is not necessarily a taboo, but doing so in manner that inflicts long-term destruction is.

When this occurs, the Greenheart's priests will take up a leading role in confronting the destructive forces. Generally this takes the form of galvanising the local community, but particularly powerful priests can be one-pwrson armies unto themselves with the wrath of nature at their fingertips.
